The incident took place around 1:25 a.m. Oct. 30 on Ferro Drive, which is located in the eastside Cove neighborhood, said Stamford Police Lt. Thomas Scanlon.
An investigation revealed that the victim, a 32-year-old Bridgeport resident, had communicated with one of the suspects on a social app. The victim made arrangements to meet one of the suspects and parked his vehicle on Ferro Drive. One suspect approached and entered the victim’s car while the second suspect emerged from the bushes with a shotgun, Scanlon said.
The victim was not injured in this incident and approximately $500 cash and a cell phone was stolen.
A few weeks after the robbery, the victim gave investigators a screenshot photo of a suspect from a different social media application. Investigators applied for search and seizure warrants and identified the suspect who had arranged the initial meeting.
After a period of time, investigators identified a known associate of the suspect as the individual who had emerged from the bushes with the shotgun. Both of the suspects are juveniles and their names are not being released, Scanlon said.
The department received arrest warrants for the two last week, and on Thursday, Jan. 17, the first suspect was nabbed by members of the Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit.
On Tuesday, Jan. 22, the second suspect appeared for court on an unrelated case and was apprehended by state Marshals.
"Both of these juveniles offenders are well known to the Stamford Police and they have committed and have been arrested for various unrelated crimes since the date of the robbery," Scanlon said.
